Transparency Azerbaijan
Transparency Azerbaijan was established in October, 2000 by representatives of civil society and academia; fully accredited as a national chapter in October, 2001, and re-accredited in August, 2006 and February, 2010. Transparency Azerbaijan work mainly in the areas of raising public awareness, researching into the reasons and forms of corruption in Azerbaijan, as well as ways to reduce this destructive social phenomenon. Transparency Azerbaijan also renders legal aid to witnesses and victims of corruption and assists the Government in drafting policy and legislative acts.
Transparency International (TI) Azerbaijan is a non-partisan organization that does not support or work against interests of any single political power. TI Azerbaijan work for the benefit of the people of Azerbaijan. TI Azerbaijan Vision is a world in which government, politics, business, civil society and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. Their Mission is to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability, integrity, solidarity, courage, justice and democracy at all levels and across all sectors of society.
TI Azerbaijan prepares recommendations to the government based on the expertise of CSO in various ways (networks and periodic meetings are established with NGOs) and inputs from key partners in order to evaluate and improve operations and strategies in the field. Roundtables by TI Azerbaijan are conducted as an opportunity for state agencies and the civil society experts to discuss the country’s stance on major corruption issues, to advocate for the reforms and to position TI Azerbaijan as the country’s foremost knowledge centre and strategic partner on fighting corruption and promoting transparency.

Rena Safaraliyeva
Rena Safaraliyeva joined the Open Government Platform in September 2016. She is the Executive Director for Transparency Azerbaijan Public Anti-corruption Association, national chapter of Transparency International in Azerbaijan, since 2000. Prior to being Executive Director she worked as an office manager for Monument Resources (Caspian) Ltd, Baku office of the UK-based company from 1997 to 2000. While working for Monument Resources, Mrs. Rena also worked as a translator/interpreter for Amoco Caspian Sea Petroleum, translated documents and meetings in the preparation for the Contract of the Century (the first PSA of 1994). Also, she translated negations with the Government of Azerbaijan on behalf of the IMF, World Bank, EBRD. Mrs. Rena has been teaching during 1990-2009 years and was Associate Professor at Azerbaijani University of Languages. She started her career as an instructor at Baku Slavic University.
She holds Doctorate Degree in Philology from Azerbaijan University of Languages and Post-graduate Degree from Moscow State Linguistic University.
