Azerbaijan National NGO Forum

Azerbaijan National NGO Forum was created by 95 NGOs on 11 June 1999 in Baku city. The chairman is Rauf  Zeyni.  The main activity and mission is to assist the formation of the public sector in accordance with modern requirements in Azerbaijan, to increase the role of NGOs in society and strengthen their activities, to achieve the coordination with international standards of NGOs current and perspective activities by  taking advantage of the experience of individual countries in the developed world, to develop the process of  NGOs creation and try to solve the problems they meet, useful cooperation between NGOs and state entities, to assist the formation of civil society,support of initiative activities of citizens, to assist member organizations in preparation and implementation of important projects on development of country, as well as to provide NGOs with different directed informations. The main objectives are:

• to coordinate the work of national NGOs and to respond in enhance their ability to any emergency;
• to ensure national NGOs in all aspects of organizational development, training, information and other resources;
• to organize institutional support of member NGO leaders and staff for increase their management capacity, by this to achieve progress of civil society institutions;
• to create relations between national NGOs and government, national and international donors, municipalities, media;
• to assist the improvement of national NGOs activities and potential role in public and private sector.

Main partner is the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.The member of  WANGO and EU EP CSF. Forum isn’t the member of any coalition.

Implemented projects in last 4 years: “Increasing the role of NGOs in the development of democratic values”,”In 2013, the regions with limited health awareness in protecting the human rights organization”, “Azerbaijan 2020: vision to future” organization of public discussions on topical issues arising from the development of the concept,  “NGOs in the provision of services in the area of institutional development”, “Support to the Baku  NGO Resource and Training Centre”, “Public councils and the promotion of social control”, international conference on “The Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement prospects. Armenian and Azerbaijani review “.

Rauf Zeyni

Rauf Zeyni joined Open Government Platform in September 2016. Mr. Zeyni is the chairman of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum since 2008.  In 2011, he became a member of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, while since 2015 he has been a member of the Public Committee under the Ministry of Justice. Prior to it, Mr. Zeyni was a member of the Coordinating Council of World Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora in 2007 and member of the Coordinating Council of World Azerbaijanis in 2006. Mr. Zeyni was appointed as a chairman of the Democratic Election Centre and was founder and editor-in-chief of the Diaspora’s journal between 2002-2008.

Ms. Zeyni holds BA degree from Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Public Administration.
