Increasing role of media and civil society in Open Government Partnership İnitiatives

Two-days training was organized in Park Inn hotel on March 14-15 on “Increasing role of media and civil society in OGP initiatives”. In total 30 participants from mass-media and CSO joined to the training.

On the first day of the training, the trainer Veronica Cretu, President of the Open Government Institute Moldova, a former member of the OGP Steering Committee, presented about the core principles of open government- differences between open government and e-government, the role of open data, the basic concepts, challenges and opportunities, advantages and disadvantages of open government.

The promises of OGP to governments and civil societies, advantages of joining the initiative and role of different stakeholders across the country were some of the questions discussed in the training.

On the second day of the training, Azer Mehtiyev, the head of the Support for Economic Initiative (SEI), presented the monitoring methodology- monitoring goals and objectives, monitoring methods, monitoring and evaluation indicators of the National Action Plan (NAP) of OGP.

Rovshan Agaev, an expert of SEI, discussed with journalists the issues to pay attention and the sources of information to work with.

The training is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation in the framework of “Promotion of the human rights, democratization and good governance” program, training session “Open Government Initiatives to promote the development and advocacy of mechanisms for dialogue between government and civil society” was held by Samir Aliyev, an expert of the Support for Economic Initiative. The training was also supported by the Institute of Natural Resources Management.
